Capouse House of Prayer - Friday February 17, 2012
We at Steamtown Church believe in empowering our members to walk out into the dreams and visions which God has placed in their hearts without hindering them. With that in mind, a few members have undertaken to start a public place for prayer which will be open 7 days a week.
This past Saturday was a wonderful kick-off to The Capouse House of Prayer! The night began with more than 50 people packing the room and local worship band We, the Readers opening their set. Director of the Capouse House, Aaron McNany, preached on Jesus’ Parable of the Sower. He exhorted believers to cultivate their lives into ‘good soil’ so that the Word of God might grow and bear fruit.
The normal rhythm of the Capouse House, located at 1505 Capouse Ave in Scranton, is more quiet and contemplative, providing a habitat for daily prayer. Throughout the week believers can take part in twice daily Community Prayer, or come during Solo Time for individual prayer. Several other groups meet in the space during off-hours and evenings. More events are being planned for the Capouse House of Prayer, like seminars, community dinners, and monthly worship nights (called ‘The Portico’) similar to the opening event last Saturday.
The central mission of the Capouse House is to foster more prayer in the Scranton Christian community and in individual believers’ lives. Pray that God will establish the Capouse House as an example in the local community, and that believers city-wide will begin crying out to God more than ever before.
Christmas Service 2011 - Monday December 19, 2011
The community of Steamtown gathered lastnight for a special Christmas service. It was a beautiful time of celebration and reflection as several members came forward to testify of God's grace in their lives over this year.
Next week, on Christmas day, members of Steamtown will volunteer some of their time at the Scranton Rescue Mission to bless those in need.
